Responsible Use of AI

Using artificial intelligence to accelerate analysis, identify patterns, and improve decision quality—while keeping evidence, critical thinking, and human judgment at the center.

BlueDragon Practices the Responsible Use of AI!

Artificial intelligence can dramatically improve the speed and depth of complex problem-solving. It can analyze large volumes of information, identify patterns and gaps, and help investigators develop better questions.

But AI can also produce inaccurate information, reinforce bias, and present uncertain conclusions with confidence. In high-consequence environments, AI output cannot simply be accepted as fact.

BlueDragon treats AI as an analytical accelerant—not an authority.

Responsible AI strengthens BlueDragon’s evidence-driven approach by helping investigators process information faster while maintaining human accountability for validation, causal conclusions, and decisions.

“Artificial Intelligence is a force multiplier. It can perform tasks many times faster than humans, accelerating our data analysis. However, we must provide detailed instructions, the proper context and define the guardrails, so AI can deliver what we expect. We also must validate the results and know what to expect. In the end, AI may “think” faster but we humans are still smarter than AI.”

How BlueDragon Uses AI

Phase 1 — AI-Enhanced Data Analysis

AI helps investigators gather, organize, compare, and analyze large volumes of evidence to identify patterns, negative trends, gaps, conflicting information, and potential Lines of Inquiry.

Analysts validate significant AI-generated findings against the underlying evidence before using them in the investigation.

Phase 2 — Causal Analysis

In Phase 2, BlueDragon trained facilitators lead the organization’s subject matter experts through cause and effect analysis, to determine the root causes.

AI is not used during Phase 2 as it cannot facilitate a group of 12 individuals, all speaking at the same time. It cannot read body language (e.g., arms crossed, when someone rolls their eyes, etc.), and it cannot discern sarcasm or where bias has crept into the discussion.

Phase 3 — Corrective Actions

AI may be used in Phase 3 to help prepare final reports directly from the virtual charts, much faster than humans can.

Given the proper context, AI can also formulate proposed corrective actions, although they must be validated by the issue owners.

Core Principles for the Responsible Use of AI

Protect sensitive information

We only use the client's own Large Language Models, to protect the information being used in the analysis.

Human judgment

AI should expand human analytical capability—not replace critical thinking, subject matter expertise, or accountable decision-making.

Human accountability

We use AI to speed up the analysis of large quantities of evidence and data. Humans remain responsible for the output and conclusions.

Evidence over AI output

An AI response is not evidence. Significant findings must be verified against reliable source information.

Bias awareness

Challenge confirmation bias, anchoring, incomplete data, embedded assumptions, and alternative explanations.

Traceable logic

Important conclusions should be traceable from the original evidence through the analysis to the final decision.
